Fonseca Vintage 2000 Port
Fonseca vintage ports are renowned for their great fruit richness and voluptuousness and, while powerful and mouth filling, for their breed and balance. In the context of each vintage, they combine the tannic dimension and 'grip' which give great port its longevity with the structure and complexity that are Fonseca's hallmark. Among the Douros first growths, Fonseca Vintage Port is clearly the 'Petrus' of Port.

TASTING NOTESThe 2000 Fonseca continues to exude finesse and focus on the nose, with pure blackberry, juniper berries and licorice. The palate is underpinned by very fine tannins, a sensual, svelte texture with wonderful acidity. The harmony and symmetry is alluring, the finish precise and demonstrating the persistency to suggest a long future ahead.
FOOD PAIRINGThe traditional accompaniments to Vintage Port are Stilton and/or walnuts. Other cheeses to consider would be Cashel Blue, Roquefort or even a wonderful artisan Canadian cheese called Le Ciel de Charlevoix - a creamy, lightly blue veined cheese made with whole milk.
