Croft Vintage 2011 375ml
The vintage preceding the 2011 harvest was cold and wet. The rain proved very beneficial, replenishing depleted groundwater reserves and allowing a balanced ripening of the grapes during the hot dry summer which followed. The resultant wine is richly coloured and contains complex flavours and long ageability.
REGIONDouro Valley, Portugal
TASTING NOTESA rich, powerful Port with intense fruitiness that precedes notes of blossom and rose. Luscious berry fruit flavour surges through the palate and the wines velvety texture is underpinned by taut, perfectly integrated tannins and a long, long finish.
FOOD PAIRINGThe traditional accompaniments to Vintage Port are Stilton and/or walnuts. Other cheeses to consider would be Cashel Blue, Roquefort or even a wonderful artisan Canadian cheese called Le Ciel de Charlevoix - a creamy, lightly blue veined cheese made with whole milk.
